THE NATCHEZ-ADAMS COUNTY PORT AND INDUSTRIAL AREA

Natchez, the oldest city on the Mississippi River, has been a port-of-call for Mississippi River travelers for centuries.  The facility shown above, however, bears no resemblance to the primitive docking available in days of old.

Jordan, Kaiser & Sessions (JKS) is honored to be Engineer for port projects, beginning with the planning in the late 1950's and the construction in the early 1960s of the Main Cargo Dock with road/rail access, utilities and other items. JKS was a joint venture partner with Brown & Butler of Baton Rouge on these projects and on several later improvement and expansion projects including the North T-dock, completed in 2000.  The North T-dock will accommodate a bulk materials loading facility to be constructed when funds are available.

Road access to the Port from Louisiana has been upgraded to provide more direct, trucker-friendly access, the projects funded under the MDOT-State Aid Multi-modal Fund program.  JKS provided engineering for all phases of the improvement program.

JKS has provided all engineering, surveying and materials testing associated with the development of the Port Industrial Park:

  • Original property survey

  • Topographic Surveys

  • Drainage Plan

  • Utilities

  • Lot layout

  • Interior Roads  (River Terminal Road providing access from the south, is also a JKS project under the State Aid Program)

  • Railroad

  • Liquid Loading Dock

  • Site plans et al for individual industries
